How Button created Gwinnett?
Gwinnett County was born in 1818 and it first consisted of Indian lands and part of, then, Franklin County. Gwinnett was made official by an act of the Georgia General Assembly, and it was named after Button Gwinnett. A prominent face in American history, Button was one of the founding fathers and leading representative of Georgia.
He is one of the signatories of the United States Declaration of Independence nd for a short period he was actually a provisional president of Georgia and Gwinnett County. The first ever courthouse was held at the home of Elisha Winn which was built only six years before the county was officially born. One of the crucial moments in Gwinnett’s history was building railrode through the county. Norfolk Southern was built in 1871, and it brought founding of many new cities that are core cities of Gwinnett’s economy. Norcross, Duluth, Suwanee and Buford were created, and soon Lawrenceville was born as well. Today, Gwinnett County represents a major metropolitan suburb area, and it’s developing each day, offering residents and visitors quality family and relaxation time.

Duluth
Duluth is the third largest city in Gwinnett County, and although it developed fast, it has retained its cozy feel. Tourists love spending time on Duluth Town Green where they can eat well and shop through charming boutiques. It is also a home to Duluth Fall Festival, and it was named “Top 10 City for Best American Values.”
Lilburn
Lilburn is one of the oldest cities in the Gwinnett County, but it is also one of the most modern one’s today. If you are a foodie like we are then this is a place to be. Lilburn’s cuisine was awarded many times, and most favorite restaurants are 1910 Public House and Three Blind Mice. It is also a home to the largest Hindu temple in the entire US BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir.
Norcross
Norcross was named “Gwinnett’s Best Arts & Culture Scene,.” It displays artwork or countless unknown and famous artists in the Kudzu Art Zone and the Lionheart Theatre. It also hosts art festival, one of the most important and famous ones near Atlanta- Norcross Art Splash (October).
